Donated compute

Project funding that becomes a dollar balance maintainers can spend on model tokens.

donations balance

Donated compute is project funding set aside for model work. Donors add dollars to a shared project balance, and maintainers spend that balance on token usage through compute keys.

In opub, donated compute makes support visible and bounded. A project can show how much funding is available, maintainers can choose dollar-limited keys for their tools, and every provider-reported charge becomes part of the project ledger.

Donations create a shared project balance, then compute keys spend it on token usage.

The important boundary is accounting: dollars control donations, balances, limits, checkout, reservations, and spend events. Tokens are the usage unit providers report after maintainers run coding agents or other model tools.
